After Care

Waxing

Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, especially if this is your first wax.  These symptoms usually subside over 24-48 hours following your treatment, but please get in touch if you experience any persistent redness or irritation. Soap and hot baths should be avoided for at least 24 hours until skin reaction has settled. Heat treatments such as sunbeds, ultra-violet, infra-red, saunas and steambaths should be avoided for at least 24 hours. Avoid public swimming baths for 24hours. Avoid any strenuous exercise as perspiration may lead to itching and irritation. No deodorants or anti-perspirants for at least 12 hours. Make-up should not be applied after facial waxing until reaction settles. Treated areas should be kept very clean to avoid any infection, as the follicle remains open after the hair is removed Avoid scratching or touching the treated area, If skin irritation occurs calamine lotion or pure aloe vera gel can be applied. You may notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so, it can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle which provides best results. Please do not tweeze, shave or use hair removal creams between appointments. To maintain your smooth appearance, we recommend regular waxing every 4-6 weeks. Do not undertake any other skincare treatments within 48 hours of having a waxing treatment. After 48 hours, it is vital that you use a good quality moisturiser. Regular exfoliating will help to prevent ingrown hairs. Any changes to your health/medication should be reported to your therapist.

Manicure, Pedicures and Shellac

Leave adequate time after your treatment to allow your nails to dry before leaving the salon. For pedicures, wear open toe shoes when possible. To prolong the life of your polish, wear gloves to undertake any household chores. Use pads of your fingers instead of your nails. Apply hand moisturiser and massage the cuticle with conditioning treatment regularly. Use non-acetone varnish remover. It is advisable to return to a nail therapist for removal of nail product. Any changes to your health/medication should be reported to your therapist.

Massage

Clients should relax for the rest of the day following treatment and drink plenty of fluids (preferably water) to continue to de-toxify the body. Especially after aromatherapy as some of the essential oils used may have diuretic properties. Avoid alcohol/caffeine/smoking; we detoxify the body, so it is important not to take in more toxins. Avoid heavy meals for 24 hours after treatment. Avoid bathing, showering, heat treatments, saunas and hairdryers immediately after aromatherapy as the essential oils would be absorbed too quickly, which can cause headaches or nausea. Avoid sunbeds after all forms of massage. Avoid exercise for the rest of the day, the purpose of a massage is to stretch out and relax the fibres of the muscles, exercising would cause them to contract and shorten removing all the benefits of the massage. Some gentle stretching can be beneficial. The detoxifying process can very occasionally leave you feeling slightly unwell the next day. Noting feelings, good or bad, the next day will help in personalising the next treatment. Any changes to your health/medication should be reported to your therapist.

Tanning Treatments

Avoid water for the rest of the day, wet wipes for palms of hands or even better have someone leave a clean wet flannel by the sink for your hands. Do not clean face before bed. Take care when drinking/cleaning teeth not to dribble. Shower/bathe the next morning, after bathing pat skin dry, rather than scrub drying with towel. No exfoliating for the first few days. After a few days you may notice knuckles/elbows/knees looking a little darker, carefully exfoliate only the dark bits, then moisturise as normal. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! When you feel the tan is starting to look a bit patchy, very lightly exfoliate from top to bottom, then moisturise as normal. Tan should then fade naturally away.
