Thai Foot Massage
Traditional
Thai Foot Massage is a unique and powerful therapy and an ancient form
of therapeutic healing. It's roots are in India from where it was
brought to Thailand over 2000 years ago by Ayurvedic doctors and
Buddhist monks. Thai Foot Massage is practised everywhere in Thailand
today and is a primary component of Traditional Thai Medicine. Using
thumbs, hands and a wooden acupressure tool, it combines acupressure,
energy balancing and stretching with applied yoga exercises -
manipulating pressure points, energy lines and basic body forces.
Sen
Lines correspond to the Meridians of Chinese medicine and the Nadi of
Indian yogic tradition. In Thailand, it is the belief that there are
72,000 Sen lines; 10 are considered to be principal Sen lines. By
focusing on these ten energy, or Sen Lines, we work on reflex/pressure
points on the feet which correspond to various internal organs,
through which life energy, prana, Chi or Ki flows. By working along
these lines, blocked energy can be released and functions balanced.
Traditional Thai Foot Massage can be effective in relieving various dysfunctions and disorders; but it is also a wonderful treatment to promote overall health, increase energy and to provide a general sense of wellbeing.

Reflexology
"Reflexology
is a method for activating the healing powers of the body. It is both
old and new. From ancient texts, illustrations, and artifacts, we know
that the early Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Russians, and Egyptians
worked on the feet to promote good health. Today many of these same
techniques have been developed into a modern scientific method called
reflexology. What joins ancients with the moderns is the
long-established principle that there are energy zones that run
throughout the body and reflex areas in the feet that correspond to
all the major organs, glands and body parts."
Laura Norman & Thomas Cowan
Reflexology
deals which the blockages created by past and present issues withing
the body, working on the principle that there are reflex areas in the
hands and feet, which correspond to all the various parts of the body.
The reflexes in the feet are actually a reflection of the body. Issues
in the body, both past and present cause congestion in the reflex
points causing the body to become out of balance, reflexology breaks
down this congestion allowing the body to function more smoothly. When
the body is healthy and functions are unimpeded homeostasis results.
Reflexology can induce relaxation, improve blood circulation, give
relief from headaches, sinus congestion, eye problems, back problems
and a range of other conditions.

Signature Treatment
For
some time now I have been considering creating a Signature Treatment.
I wanted it to be something which I love doing and which I hope you,
my clients, would enjoy experiencing.
I considered training in a new treatment or extending a treatment
already on offer, but neither option seemed satisfactory. I then
realised that as I enjoy everything I do I am reluctant to place
limits on the choice. The answer was simple - create a treatment which
encompasses aspects of several different treatments.
I have created a Signature Treatment which I personally would enjoy,
time and again. Hopefully you will feel the same way.
Upon arrival you will unwind by immersing your feet in warm water
while we discuss your skincare concerns and the optimum way to resolve
them.
You will then chose from the three aromatherapy oils I have selected
based on your individual skincare needs - you can choose one, two or
all three of the offered oils.
Next you can choose whether you would prefer a hand and arm massage or
a scalp massage, as an integral part of your facial.
To ensure you are completely relaxed and comfortable, you can select
which music you would prefer, the room temperature and the lighting
level - every aspect of this treatment will be tailored to your needs
and preferences.
Your personal Signature Treatment begins with a relaxing Foot and Leg
Massage, followed by a soothing Aromatherapy Back Massage and
concludes with a blissful Aromatherapy Facial, using Gatineau PARIS
products specific to your skincare needs.

Aromatherapy
The use of aromatherapy is a healing process, which treats the body and the mind of the person. It is an ancient art, which has surfaced many times throughout the centuries. Egyptians were the first known to use aromatherapy, in particular for mummification using frankincense, cedarwood and myrrh.
Essential oils are extracted from natural sources using a variety of processes including ; expression, which uses pressure mainly on citrus fruits; enfleurage, involving glass sheets coated in fat which absorbs the essence mainly used for delicate flowers. Other methods include maceration, extraction, rectification, distillation and resinoids.
The most effective use of aromatherapy is through the medium of massage which allows the individually chosen blend of essential oils, which will be blended based on the information gathered during a thorough consultation prior to the treatment, to be absorbed directly through the skin while the client is soothed and relaxed by the gentle flowing massage. A full body massage includes the back, legs , abdomen, décolletage, face and scalp
Some of the conditions, which can be helped by aromatherapy, include stress, tension, muscle fatigue, insomnia, headaches and a wide variety of other problems.

Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage is a traditional Indian technique of treating the upper back, neck, shoulders, face and scalp.
Women who used oils such as sesame, coconut and mustard oil to help keep the hair strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition originally developed the techniques. In India, a head massage is traditionally performed as part of the treatment given by barbers and masseurs and is commonly seen being performed on street corners, markets and the beach.
Indian head massage works on both a physical and psychological level. The techniques used represent a de-stressing programme for the whole body.
By massaging the head and shoulders, energies will become rebalanced and a general feeling of relaxation will be achieved for the whole body.
Indian head massage can improve blood flow to the head and neck which increase the distribution of nutrients to encourage healing within the whole body.
Some of the problems which can be helped include eyestrain, headaches, poor concentration, physical and mental fatigue, reduced joint mobility and other stress related conditions.

As
a woman's body progresses through the different stages of pregnancy
pressure is being applied to joints, ligaments and organs which can
be very uncomfortable and often painful and as the excitement builds
towards the arrival of the baby so do the stress levels.
Regular massage during pregnancy can be of enormous benefit to both
mother and baby, physical aches and pains are relieved, stress
levels reduced and the feel good endorphins released during the
massage are being passed on to the baby.
Stimulation
of
the circulation aids the distribution of nutrients and fluid to
vital body organs, especially the placenta. The draining
effect on the lymphatic system eliminates toxins from the cells and
the blood, reducing oedema, a contributory factor in carpal and
tarsal tunnel syndrome.
When the big day arrives these benefits continue, being in a more relaxed and comfortable state of body and mind aid's a woman's ability to relax during the first stages of labour often resulting in shorter and easier births, less pain and a lower rate of postnatal complications. After birth the increased prolactin and mamary development can lead to increased breast feeding success.

Deep Tissue Sports Massage
Deep tissue massage is an effective treatment for releasing the myofascial restrictions of the deeper muscles, tendons and ligaments of the body. These muscular imbalances are often the result of poor postural habits which may have formed from emotional influences like stress or repetitive work patterns and very commonly sporting activities. Sports involving high muscular output often lead to accumulation of residues of lactic acid in muscles causing stiffness and pain.
By working below the superficial connective tissue old structural muscular patterns and chronic muscle tension can be broken up, allowing the free flow of nutrients and oxygen to the blood. The pressure is built gradually to allow access to the deeper layers of the body where stiff, knotted and painful areas can be detected and slowly worked into through deep and direct pressure. The release of tension allows the spine and joints to relax back into correct alignment freeing trapped nerves and oxygenating poorly circulated areas. A regular dialogue is maintained with the client to aid detection of areas of discomfort and to allow the treatment to release the tension within a comfortable tolerance level.
As part of the massage the treatment of trigger points using palpation techniques can lead to further relief. Trigger points occur within the myofascial tissue which surrounds the muscles, often caused by the body protecting itself when a problem has occurred in the soft tissue. To protect an area the body will often hold the tissue, usually a muscle in a shortened state which if left untreated will become the norm, causing the circulation to be impeded to certain areas of the tissue. Common sites of trigger point formation have been mapped out and often correspond with acupuncture points and channels. By applying specific thumb pressure to activated trigger points the associated referred pain patterns can be relieved, these can include the more obvious like joint, head, neck and jaw pain but also symptoms you may not expect like earache, sinusitis, nausea, heartburn, numbness, dizziness to name only a few.
