Yoga

I have personally practiced yoga for over 20 years, and in 2018 I was lucky enough to be approached by one of my yoga teachers who asked if I would be interested in doing my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course. The lady in question is a superb teacher and a personal favourite of mine, so for my own personal development, I signed up. During the course I discovered a real sense of joy in the act of teaching, helping to guide people on the amazing journey which is yoga. From here the idea of integrating yoga into Fresh Faces was born. As part of the salon renovation and rebranding, as ‘Fresh Faces Beauty & Wellbeing by Susan Hall’. In 2019/20, Jim and I created a space to be used purely for Yoga. The yoga studio is the most peaceful, tranquil and amazing space to escape from the outside world and have some time, just for yourself.

Baddha Konasana

If you approach Yoga with an open mind and heart, the experience can be life changing. Yoga postures, or more correctly asanas, when performed with mindfulness become a moving meditation - allowing you to quiet the mind chatter and develop a new sense of peace and an appreciation for what your body can achieve.

The practice of yoga can teach you a whole new level of compassion for yourself and others. The realisation that just because you could achieve a certain pose yesterday, that doesn’t mean that you will be able to accomplish it again today. This can be humbling and freeing all at once, because you now know that having achieved it once, you will be able to do it again in the future. Learning to treat yourself with this sort of compassion and kindness enables you to project these same positive feelings onto others.

There are many different styles of Yoga available to learn. Try them all, until you find the right one for you - at this moment in time. You will probably find, as I did, that once you start your own yoga journey you will develop an appreciation for all the different styles of yoga and their associated benefits. Your preferred style will change with the seasons, your lifestyle, where your body and mind are at different times in your life.

Fresh Faces Yoga Studio

My aim is to provide a tailored yoga experience for each client. For your comfort during our time together please wear loose or stretchy clothes (a top layer is great to allow you something to remove as you build up heat during practice), and bring something warm for the meditation at the end. If you can bring your own mat that would be preferable, although I can provide one if need be. I can also provide yoga blocks, as these can be sterilised between clients but if you have your own please bring it along, can I ask that you bring your own yoga strap (a dressing gown belt can make a handy alternative). I must ask that you wear a face covering when you arrive for your 1 to 1, while on your mat you are welcome to remove the covering but it must be replaced if you leave the mat for any reason, and at the end of the session. Please make sure you arrive well hydrated and have not eaten for at least 2 hours, preferably longer.

During our hour together we can work on whatever aspect of your practice you wish.

You may have specific health or medical needs, making you a little nervous about attending a regular class. I can explain which poses you should not do, which ones you will need to modify for your safety, and assist you in discovering which poses will be the most beneficial for you. Together, and at your own pace, we can safely explore what your body is capable of, allowing you to enjoy all the wonderful benefits of a regular yoga practice. You may wish to develop a Pranayama (control of the breath) practice, or advance your existing practice by learning some new breathing techniques to relax the body and calm the mind, or enhance the concentration and clarity of thought.

Meditation, perfect contemplation; at the end of each hour we will finish with some meditation time. You decide how long you would like to spend in meditation and whether you would like silence or would prefer to be guided through the process.

To sum up – this is YOUR time, centred on you and your specific needs.

If you would prefer to have the yoga session from the comfort of your own home, I can provide you with your training using the online platform Zoom.

If you purchase a block of 4 sessions the cost will be £120, and you will have 3 months to use them.

Fresh Yoga In-Salon Sessions/Workshops

Core Focused Workshop

Core Workshop

I have a few potential dates for some more Core Focused Yoga Workshop

Thursday the 21st of July at 7pm

Saturday the 23rd of July at 3.30pm

Each start date would be the first of a block of four, 40 minute classes occurring on the same day and at the same time each week. Please let me know which dates would work for you. If more than one option would suit, please include them all, along with your order of preference. The cost of the course is £40. To secure a place will require a 50% deposit with the balance due on the first day of the block.

Having recently completed my first Core Focused Yoga Workshop and almost finished my second, I have been absolutely loving the opportunity to work closely with a small group, watching them develop and grow on their personal yoga journey. Over the last couple of months I have also been taking my own yoga journey learning the skills of Restorative Yoga.
A restorative practice provides the support the body often needs to help to truly relax, it is a very passive practice which embodies the qualities of yin (quiet, introspective, slow, spacious). Physically it reduces muscle and connective tissue tension, psychologically strengthening one’s relationship with the body giving you time to switch off the autopilot and simply be still. By practicing in a group setting it gives a sense of community while still honouring the stillness.

Restorative Session

Restorative Yoga

I am planning to regularly offer 90 minute restorative sessions within the salon. The first session will be a 'Heart Opening Practice', designed to target desk shoulders, that forward slouch which develops through spending too long at your desk/in front of your computer.

If either the Core Focused Workshop or the Restorative Session would be of interest to you, please private message or email me, if you could let me know as soon as possible as places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Fresh Yoga

While I was doing my teacher training my friend and I were holding a weekly class for friends and family, when it was coming towards the end of my training, I realised just how much I was going to miss it. I love working on a ‘one to one’ basis, I have personally experienced just how much your practice will improve from this style of teaching. However, being in a class environment can be such a nurturing experience, full of positive energy and mutual support, which can also be very beneficial to your practice. Each week I would come up with a different Vinyasa Flow for the class, and I found I was still creating them for myself, so why not share them.

1 hour Vinyasa Flow Yoga class

Book online

Clicking the above 'Book Online' button will take you to the Fresh Yoga booking page on the 'Bookwhen" website.

To ensure correct social distancing, this will no longer be a drop in class, you will need to book your place in advance. I would request that class payments be made at the time of booking by bank transfer, if paying one class at a time it will be £6.50 but if you would like to buy a block of 4 it will be £23.

Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic form of yoga where poses flow into each other on a one breath, one movement basis. This is an inclusive class designed to appeal to anyone with a reasonable level of fitness, from a complete beginner through to someone with an established practice. Rest periods or more advanced options will be available, allowing you to listen to your own body and decide what will work for you at any given time.

Please arrive 5-10mins before the class. Wear loose comfortable clothing and make sure you are well hydrated before class and have not eaten for at least 2 hours, preferably longer. Do not come to class if you have any COVID-19 symptoms. Please follow social distancing guidelines while you are on church property including in the grounds, use the hand sanitiser provided as you enter the hall. If you use the toilet facilities, please clean after use.

I will no longer be able to provide mats, blocks or straps so please bring your own with you to class. If you can arrive at the church wearing your face covering, once you are on your mat and ready to start you will be welcome to remove it.

Taking part in the Vinyasa class will give you the opportunity to take part in discounted '1 to 2' sessions with one of your fellow students from the Wednesday class.
